FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is "Full-Service" Design?

Full service means we design, order, and install the entire room so all you have to do is come home and enjoy. That includes all the furniture, flooring and wall finishes, lighting, window treatments, and all the accessories. We have an installation day where our crew puts everything in its place at once to surprise our client.

DO YOU OFFER VIRTUAL DESIGNS OR E-DESIGN SERVICES?

Yes, we offer e-design services that are sold in one-room packages depending on the square feet of the space. This service is available to anyone in the USA and is the perfect way to still use us if you cannot meet our minimum $20k furniture spend budget.

Do you have a minimum budget requirement?

Yes. For renovations we have a minimum $30k project budget. For full-service interiors we have a minimum $20k furniture spend. What this means is that for furnishings, you must purchase at least $15k in furniture through Mossy Living Co. If your project is not large enough to meet that minimum, we encourage you to look into our e-design services. This does not apply to our consultations for paint and window treatments.

WHAT DOES AN AVERAGE LIVING ROOM COST TO BE COMPLETELY FURNISHED BY YOUR FIRM?

This depends greatly on the size and scale of the room. Most of the mid-size living rooms we do cost a minimum of $25-30k. This includes all furniture, ceiling lighting/sconces, lamps, custom throw pillows, rug, custom art, custom window treatments, and décor. Our design fees are not included in this budget.

CAN WE HIRE YOUR FIRM TO DESIGN OUR INTERIORS IN STAGES?

While we prefer to work with clients on their complete home design, we try to be flexible if needed. The reason for working all at once is because we have seen that stages typically cost our clients more money over the long run and tend to result in a less satisfying experience for all involved; more construction time, money spent, and a less cohesive design. Our recommendation if you know you want to do multiple spaces in a short span of time is to save a little longer and start all at once, later. The exception would be for full-home renovations, if you need to stay in the home.

WHAT DOES "TO-THE-TRADE" MEAN?

Trade refers to the businesses in our industry that are able to buy items at a wholesale price. Designers must have properly registered documents to purchase from a trade showroom or manufacturer directly. Furniture stores, like Restoration Hardware, are all considered retail stores. We do not typically shop at retail stores unless there is something our client loves. We typically source all trade-only items to give our clients a one-of-a-kind look.

CAN I HIRE YOU FOR A CONSULTATION OR WINDOW TREATMENTS ONLY?

Yes, at this time I am still doing consultations for clients who just need some additional assistance in pulling everything together. I also offer Paint and Window Treatment Consults.

Are you a registered Architect and can we hire you for house plans?

No, although I have my degree in Architecture, I am not yet a registered Architect. That being said, in the state of Texas, I can legally design residential homes and do offer that as a service to clients.
